Motivate your teams

Motivii's Weekly Update encouraged employees to manage themselves better and give important feedback to their manager. It helped managers understand and motivate their team, in about two minutes a week.

NBCUniversal

"Motivii's Weekly Update saves me 3½ hours per week gathering feedback from my team."

James Patterson, VP, Cable Entertainment Technology, NBCUniversal

Improve communication

Motivii helped managers know how their teams were doing, what they were working on, and which conversations they should be having. Reviews turned a year of weekly updates into an honest, evidence-based conversation.

GSK

"Sharing the Motivii summary across the team is a great way of connecting with where everyone is."

Joe Voeckler, Head of Executive Recruitment, GSK

Understand your teams better

Managers and people leaders viewed rich insight on how their teams felt over time, so they could make quick and meaningful changes. Team Insight turned honest weekly signals into an engagement score you could act on.

Lloyds Bank

"I can think of several times this year that Motivii has made me a better manager."

Harry Matthews, Head of Conversion Marketing, Lloyds Bank

Two minutes, once a week

The update ran on a phone or in the browser. A handful of short questions each week: your highlights, what you were working on, what got in the way, and how likely you were to recommend your company as a place to work.

Every question carried a "why am I being asked this?" link, because people answer honestly when they know what the answer is for.

The pitch

Eight minutes on Google's Demo Day stage

Motivii was selected for Google's startup programme and pitched at Google Demo Day in London, live in front of a room of leading VCs. A $73 billion market, a product used at GSK, Lloyds Bank and O2, and eight minutes to land it. This is that pitch.

The record

5,000+ people used Motivii every week

At some of the world's biggest companies. Built in London by a team of twelve, funded by people who backed the idea early, and run with discipline to the end.

  1. 2015

Founded by Eamon Tuhami. Employee engagement and performance software built around one idea: the magic of three. Three highlights, three challenges, three focuses, every week.

  2. 2015 to 2018

Enterprise adoption. GSK, Lloyds Bank, NBCUniversal, Thomson Reuters, Expedia and Findmypast among the companies using Motivii weekly. Selected for Google's startup programme and pitched at Google Demo Day.

  3. 2018

Pivoted to profitability. Chose sustainability over burn. The business ran profitably from here.

  4. December 2020

Sold to Front Foot Capital. A full exit. The product and team were absorbed into the acquirer's operations, and Motivii as a standalone company came to an end.

Why this site exists

Motivii was my company. I founded it in 2015 and ran it for five years, from first line of code to twelve staff, a dozen enterprise clients and more than 5,000 people using it every week.

In December 2020 we sold to Front Foot Capital. The product and team were absorbed into their operations, and over time Motivii wound down. The motivii.com domain lapsed, and today it points at something that has nothing to do with what we built. That kept prompting strange questions from people looking back at the work.

So this site sets the record straight. It captures what Motivii did, who used it, and what we set out to build, using the copy, artwork and design of the site as it stood in 2019. Not a relaunch. A record, kept with pride.
